🚨 The Problem

Manufacturing is facing a critical inflection point.

Labor crisis: Labor accounts for nearly half of global GDP ($40+ trillion), but over 70% of factories face severe labor shortages.

Flexibility gap: Traditional robots require week-long reprogramming by engineers or specialists every time things change.

We’re moving toward real-world deployments after entering a joint commercialization agreement with ABB Robotics, one of the world’s leading robot manufacturers, following our win in their global AI Startup Challenge from among hundreds. This represents a first-of-its-kind system in industrial automation.

We’re building toward a world where robots are as easy to teach and adapt as software — turning them into true consumer commodities and making automation accessible to every factory and beyond.

👥 The Team

Xavier (Tianhao) Chi is a former tech lead of Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8), one of the world’s most critical internet services, with work featured in The Register and topping Hacker News. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in ECE from UIUC.

Sebastian Peralta is a physicist, roboticist, and deep learning researcher. Before Mbodi, he was a core engineer at Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8), and earned a triple major (EE, CS, Physics) from UPenn, where he also conducted graduate research at the GRASP Robotics Lab.

We started Mbodi after seeing robots fall short of their potential — stuck in brittle code and long deployment cycles. With breakthroughs in generative AI and agentic systems, we’re building a future where robots can truly learn, adapt, and scale.
